Welcome back after the summer holiday. I hope you all had a wonderful break and a good rest. It has been great welcoming old and new families back from the summer. The children have been amazing and I have seen lots of exciting learning happening in each class already.

Next week we welcome all our Reception pupils to St George’s. On Friday we will be having a parent coffee morning after Chapel to which all parents are invited to stay. It would be lovely to see many of you there.

Next week we also have our termly parent meetings. These are an opportunity for you to meet your child’s new teacher’s, find out what is happening during this term and ask any questions you may have.

  • Year 1 and Year 2- Monday 3pm
  • Year 3 and Year 4- Tuesday 3pm
  • Year 5 and Year 6- Wednesday 3pm

There is also a second-hand uniform sale after school on Monday in the playground.

Your child may have come home talking about a few changes at St George’s. Firstly we have altered the children’s houses. This is in order to make the houses more even, to ensure siblings are in the same houses and to reinstate the house system. From now on each house will be working together at several events throughout the year – not just Sports Day. On Friday afternoons we are introducing a ‘creative learning’ session. These will take place in houses. Your child will be able to give you lots more information about this next Friday after
they have completed their first session.

The other new things you may have heard about are our ‘Values Champion’. Each week every class teacher will choose a child who has demonstrated our school values throughout the week. The children will be rewarded with certificates in Collective Worship. They will be displayed outside the theatre and the children then get to take these home the following week. We really want to celebrate the uniqueness of each of our children and this is one way in which we can do this. We introduced this to the children today and many of them have already told me that they are going to try hard to gain this special award. Please check the calendar below for an updated list of events this half term.

Have a great weekend.
