Welcome to all our new Reception families and other families across the school that have joined us over the last week or so. We hope you have settled quickly into life at St George’s.

This week we held our termly parent meetings; I hope you have found these and the class letter useful. The letter and the PowerPoint used in the meetings will soon be accessible on the school website. Please check the school website for diary dates as these are updated regularly; the class pages will also be revised very shortly with information about what each class has been doing so far in school and some plans for the coming term.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the coffee morning today. Thank you for joining us for communion and staying on to talk. It is always great to catch up with everyone, especially after a long summer holiday. Thank you to Father Richard and the Grosvenor Chapel for hosting this for us.

We started our ‘creative learning carousels’ this afternoon. Each class is split into their houses and then several classes are put together to work as a new house group. This is a wonderful way for our children and staff to get to know each other. It also adds to their creative learning with activities such as
gardening, cooking, mindfulness, art, debating, choir, etc. Reception, Y1 and Y2 are working together and Y3 to Y6 are working together. Each class then returns to finish off our Friday afternoons with a time for reflection, circle time and PSHE.

Y5 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Hampton Court this week as part of their Shakespeare project. The weather remained warm for them and they had so much to do on the day. Rehearsals have already begun and the children are very excited about the performance. Please remember to buy your tickets via Rada
as soon as possible.

Y4 had a visit from Sarah Howard and the ‘Adopt a School’ front of house team on Wednesday. The children were taught how to serve at tables, how guests should be greeted and how they need to behave when they go to a restaurant. The children really enjoyed the session and the ‘Adopt a School’ staff
commented on how wonderfully behaved they all were. Well done Y4!

Next Friday, 21st September at 3pm, there will be a fundraising meeting for parents. This is an opportunity for any parents interested in helping to raise money for the school to get together and formulate some plans. One of the decisions we will need to make is whether we are going to be holding a Christmas fair this year and if so, when that would be. It would be wonderful if lots of parents were able to join us for this meeting.
