|9:05 – 9:25||Collective Worship||We join the whole school for our collective worship.|
|9:25-10:25||Outside choosing time||During this time the children choose their learning and have access to a wide range of resources. The adults in class support the children in the different areas of the Early Year Foundation Stage Curriculum and make observations on their progress.|
|10:30-11:45||Infant play and snack||The children have their snack and the opportunity to play with Form 1 and Form 2.|
|10:45-11||Whole class carpet session||This is when we read our story of the week, learn actions for a story, retell stories, sequence them and discuss our ideas.|
|11 – 11:20||English group work||We split into groups with an adult and focus on our literacy and communication and language skills. We sequence stories, talk about characters, develop our fine motor skills, learn how to write letters, read and reorder sentences.|
|11:20-11:45||Maths group work||We stay in groups to look at our maths objectives and play games. Depending on the focus we will use dice, numicon, number cards, cubes, shapes and other equipment.|
|11:45 – 1:00||Lunch time||We wash our hands and go to the theatre for lunch. We have play time outside with Form 1 and Form 2.|
|1:05 – 1:25||Phonics||We have our phonics session where we learn new sounds, tricky words, longer words to read and practice our reading and writing.|
|1:30 – 3||Group choosing time||We have extended time in groups to choose our own learning either outside or inside. The adults in class support the children in the different areas of the Early Year Foundation Stage Curriculum and make observations on their progress.|
|3 – 3:15||Whole class carpet time||Here we may have story time where we act out our own stories, sing songs or have a circle time.|
|3:15 – 3:25||Getting ready for home time||We get our bags and coats and have a story before home time.|
Reception Class Chicks
In March we had some eggs appear in our classroom. The children had some ideas as to what they might hatch into – chicks, crocodiles and even snakes! We watched the eggs hatch into chicks and observed the chicks grow. We had ten chicks in total which the children gave some interesting names to. My favourite was Couscous! We talked about how to look after the chicks and what we need to do if we hold them. The children really enjoyed having the chicks in class.
