Achievement for All

Achievement for All

The Achievement for All programme delivers an improvement framework that raises the aspirations, access and achievement of children deemed vulnerable to underachievement – including those eligible for free school meals, EAL (those with English as an additional language), looked-after children, children with low attendance and those with special educational needs and disabilities – and their peers.

Achievement for All at St. George’s (Hanover Square)

The framework is tailored to meet the needs of our school and the pupils we wish to support. This year, we began by identifying groups of children, who would benefit from a boost, throughout the school who were either eligible for free school meals and/or below average attendance. There are 24 pupils in total. We have invited their parents to Structured Conversations (longer meetings), where each child’s strengths and areas for improvement will be discussed. At these meetings, we agree targets for improvement and provided some intervention work to boost standards.

We have been supported with the introduction of this school improvement programme by Ms Laura Stagg. She has provided valuable guidance and advice, to ensure that we will be successful.

What will the benefits be?

As a result of monitoring progress over the course of the year we believe that the programme will facilitate:

  • significant improvements in progress and attainment in reading, writing and maths.
  • to improve school relationships and communication with parents.
  • improve attendance for many of the 24 children
  • will raise the self-esteem of the 24 children.

What will happen next year with Achievement for All?

It is our intention, moving into next year, to invite 50 children (and their parents) to participate in the programme and subsequently to branch it out to an even wider cohort in the years to come.
