MUSIC
At St George’s Hanover Square the Music Curriculum is covered in school through the Charanga scheme music service. Music is taught once a week. Children experience listening, singing, playing musical instruments and composing (sometimes using technology). We have a wide selection of instruments to support the music curriculum including xylophones, glockenspiels, drums, claves, maracas, bells and a variety of instruments from other cultures. We sing in daily Collective Worship and learn new songs for our whole school Chapel service which take place every Friday morning and for our other Church services which take place across the school year. Our school choir is led by an expert musician and singer and they perform at key Church services. The choir also supports charity events such as the Royal Academy of Culinary arts. They have also performed as part of this year’s Bach Festival. Some children also take additional instrumental tuition on piano, guitar, cello, trombone, drums and violin. Children showcase their music to parents through our popular Pelican music concert which takes place every term.
